Colorado Springs, Colorado – 38.840455, -105.042300, 4295 meters
This site is rarely flown as the launch is nearly 14,000 ft. ASL. It is for very experienced and advanced pilots only.
Launch is very unforgiving of any mistakes and it is a long, long, ways out to any landing areas.
That said, it is flown from time to time and provides a once in a lifetime flight.
There is a paved road right to the top, made famous by the Pikes Peak Hill climb race held annually here. So getting up there in the summer is usually not an issue.
All takeoffs are to the East and the winds will be pre-dominantly West so you must get up there early to get a launch before the inevitable westerly winds kick in.
