There are plenty of other good places to find any news about Hang Gliding. This is where we will discuss topics about the sport in a forum we have access to and can publish to.

Real Hang Gliding Explained
Most people have no idea what is really happening While that it is a true statement about virtually every, single, thing, in modern society, It is 100% true for general public’s knowledge about foot launched soaring. Most people cannot translate the actions they see into functional concepts Just because you see a thing, does not…
Hello, will there be an adaptation to MSFS 2024 and if so, when? Thank you
Microsoft 2024 is here, and things are different!
For my Patreon members, I want to lay out what THGF is doing to make our products better in both 2020 and in 2024 as well as continue to introduce new aircraft.
The good things I have found so far:
#1 24-hour real weather is very cool**. This will be how all flying will be done going forward. Following the theme of the new career mode (and others), the idea is to have scenario created for you and for you the pilot to experience them, not create them necessarily. Real weather does this. It does it randomly and is constantly changing. Have access to 24 hr. history lets you fly in real weather conditions no matter what time zone you live in with pilots in every other time zone.
GAME CHANGER.
2. Ground textures, trees, rocks and cliffs (everything you see from a HG) are amazing. Not sure about VR yet.
3. Air textures seem more real (so far). Lift is less abundant (good). Flying is more realistic
4. Out landing will much more challenging. Ground hazards are very real now.
5. “Tree Suck” where lift dramatically drops on slopes that have trees seems to have gone away.
6. Aircraft models/textures are in much higher fidelity in 2024. It is not just the scenery; it is also the aircraft themselves.
7. Having an AVATAR outside the aircraft. You can get out and walk around, check out flying sites in detail. See/Talk to other pilots on the ground.
8. Multiplayer comms is now built right into the sim.
9. Information tags on other aircraft are much better. Not so intrusive as 2020.
What does not work:
1. Spawning with aerotow option (for me at least). I can spawn autonomous.
2. Pilot poses not working. This is due to changes in the camera itself. Very fixable.
3. Ground handling is not working. Not sure why yet, but foot launch is impossible at this point.
4. THGF desktop app does not work. Will need a new version using the new SDK simconnect.dll
What does work:
1. Gliders are in the “hanger” at least. Missing thumbnail images that 2024 seems to want.
2. Glider’s “fly” even if the pilot is borked.
3. Animations work.
4. Variometer is working but hard to see since there appears to be model overlap.
5. Widget seems to be working perfectly.
Things that are different:
1. How the sim calculates LOD is dramatically different. This is/will affect how the airframe and cockpit views are rendered. This sim is being rendered in MUCH HIGHER detail than before. This means the aircraft models need to be in higher detail. It is the same difference as between FSX to 2020.
a) this means I have to make my existing models in a bit higher detail than the 2020 versions
2. Model exports from Blender have 2 distinct exports: 1 for 2020. 1 for 2024. That means that every aircraft will need 2 versions, even if a 2020 model “works” in 2024.
3. A new simconnect.dll requires all software that uses it to be branched and have 2 versions.
4. Being able to walk around outside the glider (VERY VERY COOL) begs to be integrated into the 2024 models.
5. Introduction of dynamic stickers and logos. We should be able to customize the “stickers” on any model to be/say anything you want at an individual level.
6. The livery system is different. They have actually changed the model to be what I have been doing all along (I did not do it ‘right” in 2020). It is a better way.
7. The new “events” for walking around: run, walk, crouch, etc. that are used to walk the avatar around outside the glider should be used to walk the glider around (ground handling). Then whatever you have mapped for your avatar movements will be the same for the glider. I had to invent these in 2020, they are now native in 2024.
8. I think I can make the eye position change while in flight now. This means your camera position (the pilot’s FPV) will change as you move the joystick. Way more immersive.
What to expect from THGF:
1. A new set of intermediate gliders. I am 90% done with them now. I will finish them and publish them in 2020 format.
2. I will port the THGF desktop app to 2024. I am 100% certain that new sites can be submitted directly to the ASOBO online site HUB from the app. (means anyone, anywhere automatically gets your new site).
3. I will port the WIDGET to 2024. This will specifically modify ground handling mapping.
a) the Widget contains 2 gliders as base gliders (at this point) These gliders will be 2024 compliant and including very details models.
4. I will then port existing aircraft over to 2024
a) the new U2 will be first.
b) then the FALCON 4.
c) then the TRIKES
d) then the DRAGONFLY
Going forward, all new aircraft will be introduced and delivered in both 2020 and 2024 formats (they are indeed different). I will always release the 2020 first (easiest, lowest common denominator of functionality), but I will follow that with a 2024. I will modify the 2020 versions to be more compatible with 2024 if that is possible so that you could just use them. 2024 will have additional features not possible in 2020, that is just the way it is.
All of this will be available EARLY to my Patreon members.
I will post most models here first, if possible. Things that are free to the community will be available via the Website and flightsim.to
If you have purchased or downloaded pay-models from this site in the past and cannot get the updates, please contact me directly and I will get you all the updates.
Cheers
Richard.
