About
Coronet Peak is one of the most popular ski resorts in New Zealand, and also a great place to launch a hang glider. The launch site is located at the top of the ski field, at an elevation of about 1650 m. The site faces north-east and offers a wide range of flying conditions, from smooth thermals to dynamic ridge lift. The site can accommodate up to 10 gliders at a time and has a grassy slope for easy take-off. The landing area is located at the bottom of the ski field, near the Coronet Peak Hotel. It is a large grassy field with plenty of space and windsocks. The landing area is about 6 km from the launch site and has an elevation difference of about 1100 m.
