The Nazca Lines are a collection of giant geoglyphs—designs or motifs etched into the ground. located in the Peruvian coastal plain about 250 miles (400 kilometers) south of Lima, Peru. They were created between 500 BCE and 500 CE by people making depressions or shallow incisions in the desert floor, removing pebbles and leaving differently colored dirt exposed
